Internships
In addition to the required coursework, students in the Day 4 + 1 Program complete
two summer internships. The customized internships combine theory and practice
- a strong tradtion at CMC. Students complete one internship during the summer
after the junior year and one following graduation from CMC, prior to the graduate
year. The internships are concentrated periods of work where students develop
professionally while gaining exposure to issues involved in the practice of
management. Each internship is designed to give students management experience
and includes an academic component where faculty members guide students in applying
theory to the practice of management.
Companies that have previously sponsored summer internships include:
- Abercrombie & Fitch
- Bear Sterns
- CBS
- Deloitte & Touche
- Ernst & Young
- Merrill Lynch
- Morgan Stanley
- PricewaterhouseCoopers
- Trust Company of the West
- Universal Studios
- Wells Fargo
- William M. Mercer
The internships are of sufficient breadth and depth to offer a rigorous educational
experience, support an academic project, and provide meaningful outcomes for
the student and sponsoring organization. Students return from internships with
experiences and insights that they share in classroom discussions.
The internships are designed to provide students with enriching experiences
that will serve them well in both their professional goals and personal development.
Internships offer opportunities for students to:
- Gain exposure to a range of occupations
- Test possible career choices
- Apply knowledge gained in classes
- Meet and learn from professionals
- Develop a network of contacts
- Work under faculty supervision on a real world problem
In order to assist students with their summer internships, stipends are available
and depend on the nature of the internship. Stipends may cover travel or accomodation
expenses for the internships and may be worth up to $3,000.
