Admission and Financial Aid Staff

Richard "Dick" Vos, Vice President, Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Dick Vos

Dean Vos, who has spent a fair-sized chunk of his life east of California, was actually born and raised in Southern California. After graduating from Palisades High School in Los Angeles, he opted for Cornell University and an abrupt change of scenery.

One thing led to another, and before he knew it he was working in admission at Grinnell College in Iowa. In 1987, he made the trip back to Southern California with his wife and two children-this time to serve as the Dean of Admission at Claremont McKenna. Dean Vos is an avid sports enthusiast—"from a distance," he adds—and he especially enjoys reading and traveling with his family.

Georgette R. DeVeres, Associate Vice President of Admission and Financial Aid Georgette R. DeVeres

Georgette was born in Columbus, Ohio and still fondly refers to herself as a “buckeye”, even though she grew up in Los Angeles. She attended Hamilton High School. While attending California State University, Northridge she worked as a student assistant in the Student Aid Accounting Office. Little did she know that this job would impact her future and lead her to her current profession which she thoroughly enjoys. Georgette came to CMC in 1983 and began her tenure as the Director of Financial Aid.

Georgette also enjoys traveling, reading, shopping and spending time with her family.

Victoria Romero, Director of Admission

Victoria grew up in Los Alamos, NM where she left the mountains of northern New Mexico and headed to Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. She enjoyed her experience there so much she began working in their admission office after receiving her sociology degree.

Next she stopped off in the Midwest and worked briefly for the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, and several years at Grinnell College.

Victoria, and her sheltie Robbie are happy to be at CMC and in Southern California. The dog was especially glad to get out of his winter sweater!

Jennifer Sandoval-Dancs, Assistant Dean of Admission/Coordinator of Multicultural Admission

Jennifer grew up in Upland, CA and stayed in Southern Cal for college graduating from USC in 1998. After college she had the opportunity to serve as a consultant for her sorority, which allowed her to visit over 40 colleges and universities nationwide. During this adventurous year Jennifer discovered the admission profession. She started her career in admission at her alma mater where she worked in undergraduate and graduate admission for the Annenberg School for Communication. She is happy to be near family, and her hometown, while continuing her work in admission at CMC. Her favorite things include spending time with her husband, daughter and chocolate lab, watching college football (Go Trojans!) and exercising.

Adam Sapp, Assistant Dean of Admission

Adam grew up in Knox County, Ohio, and attended Danville High School. He received his BA in history from Kenyon College in May 2002. After spending the summer writing for an Ohio-based newspaper, his many good friends in the Kenyon admission office persuaded him to do admission work. After realizing that it does not snow in southern California, he decided CMC was the place for him.

In his spare time Adam enjoys playing tennis, traveling, cooking, and eating out.

Matthew Burris, Admission Counselor

Though Matt spent most of his life growing up in Tucson, Arizona, he still considers himself a Southern Californian. After graduating from University High School in Tucson, Matt fled to Los Angeles to enroll at Claremont McKenna College. After a college experience that went by too quickly, Matt graduated in May 2007 with a dual bachelors degree in government and psychology. After four years of interning in the CMC admission office, Matt decided to turn his passion into his profession. When he is not working he can be found cooking, ballroom dancing or enjoying time with friends.

Adam Miller, Admission Counselor

A proud native of beautiful San Clemente, CA, Adam graduated from Claremont McKenna with a degree in government and economics in 2003. After pitching for a baseball team in France and traveling throughout Europe for two years, he began his career in higher education at the University of Redlands, where he oversaw residence life, housing, and student conduct while working toward a Master's degree in Higher Education. Adam couldn't stay away from CMC, though, and he jumped at the chance to join the admission team at his alma mater.

Adam and his wife Cheryl (CMC '04) live in Claremont and enjoy playing outdoors when they're not traveling, eating a tasty meal, or rooting for the Anaheim Angels!

Evan Rutter, Admission Counselor

Although still a proud native of Oregon, Evan made his way to Southern California and Claremont McKenna after four years at Sheldon High School in Eugene. While at CMC, Evan was involved in a number of activities. He managed the student store, served as head sponsor during new student orientation, served as a student representative on both faculty and trustee committees, and during his final year, served as student body (ASCMC) vice-president. In May of 2006, Evan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He returned to his alma mater one year later to give back even more in a new capacity: Admission Counselor. When not working, Evan enjoys traveling, great food, good company and the outdoors.

Abby Parsons, Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid

Abby grew up in a suburb of Chicago and came to Claremont to attend Pitzer College when it was still a women's college! While attending Pitzer she met her husband, who was attending Claremont Men's College. They never left Claremont. Abby worked in Financial Aid and Admission at Pitzer College for almost 30 years and then the Financial Aid Office at the California Institute of Technology. She joined the Claremont McKenna College financial aid staff in July 2006, and is thrilled to give up commuting. She loves working close to home again.

Abby and Jack '70 live in Claremont with their two dogs Molly and Milo, who are often seen walking the campus in the early morning. In her spare moments, Abby enjoys traveling all over the world.

Germaine Graham, Associate Director of Financial Aid for Systems and Operations

Germaine Graham, Associate Director of Financial Aid, has served students at CMC for 15 years. Prior to coming to CMC, she worked at Claremont Graduate University for 5 years as an Assistant Director. A native of New Orleans, she has served the financial aid community for over 30 years. Germaine has been active in various associations on the state and regional levels throughout her time in the profession.

Catherine Mayfield, Financial Aid Office Advisor & Work-Study Coordinator

Catherine knew when she first stepped foot on the grounds of the Claremont Colleges over 20 years ago, that she would one day proudly hang a parking placard from her rear view mirror. Those placards have now been replaced with decals, and the car she drives has changed over the years, but her pride in working at CMC continues.

Joining the CMC Financial Aid Office by way of Chaffey College, Catherine has enjoyed taking students and their families down the financial aid path from start to finish. A socio-cultural anthropology graduate from Pitzer College, Catherine still misses the excitement of college studies, and the opportunity to take classes at all of the undergraduate Claremont Colleges. She traded in graduate studies in Negotiations & Public Policy for her love of film and photography. You can catch her with her camera gear at events and locations all over the country and the world!
