Ms. Dianne Brown Maranto
Director of Psychology in the Workplace
American Psychological Association Science Directorate
As director of psychology in the workplace for the American Psychological
Association (APA), Dianne Maranto represents APA on workplace issues
and facilitates the participation of applied researchers on federal
policy and legislative activities. She promotes public and consumer
understanding & awareness of the value of applied psychological
research and hopes to foster more research funding for psychologists
on issues related to the workplace. She also maintains an assessment
consulting practice with clients that include the U.S. Department
of Labor, the Variety Children's Learning Center, the U.S. Postal
Service and Long Island University. Prior to this, she served as
APA's Director of Testing & Assessment for almost 10 years.
In this capacity, she enacted APA's involvement on federal legislation
and federal policies related to employment and educational testing.
She also served as project director for the revision of APA's Standards
for Educational and Psychological Testing.
Prior to APA, Ms. Maranto was a research psychologist for the Edison Electric Institute's industry testing consortium, where she analyzed cognitive and non-cognitive employment test data for analyses of reliability, validity, and adverse impact. She began her professional career with the Human Resources Research Organization (HumRRO), conducting policy analysis research for projects involving personnel selection, classification and testing. She has a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology from George Mason University.
