CTuomala
Ms. Tuomala graduated from Claremont McKenna College (CMC) in Economics and Philosophy in 1986. More than twenty years later she looks back on it as a great experience; she is a huge fan of the school and incredibly grateful for those years. The Berger Institute, which addresses the issues of work and family balance, is of particular importance to Ms. Tuomala who is a mother of two girls, ages 9 and12 and has firsthand experience in balancing these two facets of her life.

After college Ms. Tuomala was unsure of the path she wanted to pursue. She went to law school for a year before realizing that it was not what she wanted and moved into a career in market research. In 1991 Ms. Tuomala moved to Northern California where she married her husband, Todd Tuomala. For 14 years she performed various marketing and sales operations rolls for Acuson Corporation and then Siemens Medical Devices. While she was working full time, she attended Santa Clara University and earned her MBA in 1995. After the birth of her first child, Ms. Tuomala’s boss was flexible and worked with her so that she could work 80% time to facilitate a balance between work and home.

Since 2004, Ms. Tuomala has primarily been at home with her children and has been involved in school related boards and other committee work. She also enjoys doing contract marketing projects. After attending the fall of 2008 “Living Room Conversations,” Ms. Tuomala was impressed with Professor Antecol, her work and that of the institute as a whole, and since then has gotten involved with the Berger Institute. Her favorite part about the Advisory Board is getting to meet and talk with current students.
