CMC did not have married student housing . We lived at the Public Housing in
Upland , located at Foothill Blvd. and Campus Ave, along with 5 other CMC marrieds - with kids. $36 / mo. Most other residents were Braceros, who
worked the local vineyards and citrus groves--now all huge sudivisions.
We had a 2 bd, rm. unit. Red brick, single floor, 2 unit bldgs.
Lew Littleton '50, Al Davenport '50 and Ken Barkley '50 were our neighbors.
All were WW2 Vets--all now deceased.
I spoke spanish so living with Mexican families was easy and fun so to speak.
We were ALL have nots. The name of the project was "Los Olivos" The Olives.
there were olive groves just north of us.
That was part of the "good ol' days."
