Leaders in the Making
By Rachel (Pickens) Reynolds '2001I sit on the Board of Trustees for the Young Lawyers Division (“YLD”) of the King County Bar Association in Seattle. The YLD was tasked with selecting the recipient of the Outstanding Mentor of the Year Award for the Association. The Award is designed to honor individuals who have made substantial contributions to the teaching and training of young lawyers.
Two of the attorneys nominated were so exceptional that the YLD decided to honor two individuals. Both recipients have made substantial contributions to the community and have also provided support and encouragement to young lawyers. Moreover, both have something else in common: both attended CMC.
The 2012 Outstanding Mentors of the Year are Theo Angelis (’94), a partner at K&L Gates, LLP, and D. Jill Pugh (nee Hawkins) (’91), owner of the Law Office of D. Jill Pugh. That two CMC alumni were selected as award recipients from more than 6,000 King County Bar Association members speaks to the caliber of our alumni. The selection of Theo and Jill highlights that “Leaders in the Making” is more than a simple catch phrase; it truly demonstrates that our alumni are truly leaders in their professions and in their communities.
I hope to follow in their footsteps.
