About The Campaign For Claremont McKenna

Claremont McKenna College emerged in the wake of World War II, creating a new space in American higher education with $88,000 and a dream. Embracing the liberal arts education shaped first by New England Congregationalists, believing that students should be well-rounded and knowledgeable about more than just their core discipline, the founders took that notion a step further by focusing on identifying and developing leaders. This combination of loftiness and pragmatism is at the heart of Claremont McKenna, and the accomplishments of our alumni speak to the College’s success.
