General Information About WOA!
What is WOA?
W.O.A. is the Wilderness Orientation Adventure at Claremont McKenna College. It is a student-run program (partially subsidized by ASCMC) designed to ease the transition into the CMC community. We welcome and encourge both first year students and transfers to participate. It is a great way to get to know other students at CMC. These trips are group oriented so everyone will be expected to help with meals, camp set-up and clean-up, as well as other activities.
Do I need experience?
Definitely not. The trips cater to a wide range of experience. WOA! trips are designed to help form long term friendships with the students who participate. How strenuous you want your outdoor experience is up to you. Each trip is labeled inside.
How Much Does WOA! Cost?
WOA trips cost $300 and checks should be made payable to Claremont McKenna College/WOA. The price includes park fees, transportation, food, use of group equipment, and other miscellaneous costs. Once you have selected a trip, further information will be provided by your trip leader on what you should bring.
Dates and Arriving at CMC
Students who choose to participate must arrive at CMC on Friday August 23rd between noon and 5pm. Students will spend Friday night on campus and leave for their destination the following morning. The trips end Tuesday, August 27th, when all groups return to CMC. On-campus Orientation begins Wednesday, August 28th.
