High Sierras Backpacking
Our trail winds through stands of ponderosa and lodgepole pines surrouned by tall granite peaks and over two awe-inspiring passes in the famous Eastern Sierra mountain range. Just South of Mount Whitney—the tallest peak in the contiguous United States—the trail follows a loop of high mountain lakes that will serve as excellent swimming holes. The first day of backpacking will be moderate with the goal of adjusting to elevation and getting our walking legs; followed by a brief visit to the prestigious Pacific Crest Trail on the second day. On the third day of the trip, we will have the option of hiking to the summit of Mount Langley (elevation: 14,026 feet) which will not be far from the night's campsite. Our trip will conclude on the fourth day with a short hike back to the road. Please note: due to this trip's elevation, previous backpacking experience and aerobic fitness are recommended.
