I was not packaged with any loans. Does this mean I am not eligible?
As of the Fall 2008 semester, CMC has instituted a no-packaged loan policy. This new policy replaces loans with grants for students who have financial need and would previously have been packaged with a need-based loan in their financial aid award.  However, you may still be eligible to borrow loans to assist with meeting your expected family contribution. If you are interested in this option, please contact the Financial Aid Office. 

If I am an early decision candidate, when will I receive my financial aid package?
If you submit your application material on time, you will receive a "preliminary" financial aid award soon after you receive a letter of admission.  If you are admitted as an early decision candidate, you will not be required to make your admission decision until you have received and reviewed your financial aid package. However, it is important that you subsequently provide accurate and official information as soon as possible to finalize your award.

Is my financial aid renewable?
Each year students must re-apply for financial aid. Changes to the cost of attendance as well as changes in your family's financial circumstances can affect your eligibility each year. Whenever possible, CMC strives to maintain student award levels from year to year while working within federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.

Work-study allows students with financial need an opportunity to make money for educational expenses through part-time work. Students with work-study are eligible to work on- or off-campus, up to 20 hours per week when school is in session, and earn up to the total amount of their work-study award. Work-study can only be earned at jobs that are designated work-study jobs. You can learn more about work-study at the work-study section of our website. 

The Claremont McKenna College Financial Aid Office does not assign work-study jobs—you must apply for them! On- and Off-campus jobs can be found by visiting the Career Services Center webpage at /csc/.  Simply click on the CMConnect link and you will be able to view both on and off-campus work-study positions.
