PUBLIC DEBATE AND DISCUSSION The Claremont Colleges Debate Union sponsors more than 150 public debates, roundtable discussions, and town hall meetings each year, in addition to considerable additional or special project programs. Events are scheduled on campus and in the community; they are designed to train individuals in the skills of public argumentation, serve as a demonstration of effective public speaking and refutation, and promote substantive discussion on local, regional, national, and international events. Many of these events are coordinated with college social and political activist groups, community organizations, academic departments (such as Pomona Media Studies and Claremont Colleges Joint Media Studies – co-sponsors of a series of presidential election media criticism and candidate discussion sessions), and field experts. Please return to this page for announcements on upcoming public events. |
