STAT Program

About the STAT Program

STAT (Student Technology Assistant Program) consolidates various IT student forces so we (ITS) can provide better service to all of CMC.

STAT students support the labs and the helpdesk, provide faculty support, work on web projects, set up and support A/V systems and support students in the residence halls. If you need technology-related assistance, chances are good that a STAT member will be helping you.

STAT members are trained by ITS in a week-long session called STAT Camp.

STAT Camp

STAT Camp takes place during the week prior to New Student Orientation so that they will be able to answer most questions raised. All STAT members receive a fundamental level of training necessary for any position and specialized training in their specific field.

STAT members are paid for the week that they are in training and are provided with room and board. As well, there are typically several “fun” activities to take part in.

Once New Student Orientation begins, all STAT members will take part in the various aspects of setting up new and returning students on CMC’s network. They will orient new students and provide some basic computer training.

STAT Camp is required of all STAT members. If you have attended a previous STAT Camp, you may be asked to be a co-trainer, where you will assist another student or staff member in training other students. If there is a reason why you cannot attend STAT Camp (with a legitimate CMC oriented reason) allowances can be made for you.

These ITS employees are students living in your dorms. They exist only to make your life easier, and they are equipped to handle any situation. Whether you need to set up your email, or if your word document just "disappeared," or even if you need help upgrading your computer, these individuals will be happy to lend a hand. Just give them a call or drop them a line. Anytime, day or night.
