KLI Student Support Policy

The Kravis Leadership Institute (KLI) provides monetary support to select CMC student leadership education and development programs throughout the academic year based on available funding.  KLI considers requests on a case-by-case basis where the KLI budget allows.  General guidance for making requests is as follows:

  • Requests must be received at least 2 months prior to travel and event participation.
  • Student support for travel and/or registration costs is generally limited to $750 per student.
  • Participation must occur while a full-time CMC student.
  • Support for partisan political events is generally not possible.
  • Requests should include the following information:
    • Name and contact information for each student requesting support
    • Travel/participation dates
    • Event information (host, location, web reference if available…)
    • Leadership relevance (why should KLI be interested?)
    • Budget outline (estimated expenses and other support requested/received)
  • Students agree that within one week of event completion they will provide a 1-2 page paper or article that describes the event and highlights the leadership education/development experience.  The article, if relevant, may be used in the KLI newsletter, Illumine, or possibly the in online journal, Leadership Review.
  • Priority may be given to students actively participating in the Leadership Sequence.  The decisions of the KLI Director and Associate Director are final.
  • Requests should be submitted in writing to:
