Annual Contest Description and Rules  The seventh annual contest will take place in 2008.

(Contest is held during the Spring semester with applications due early April.)

1.  Eligibility.  The CMC Student web-based entrepreneur award recognizes a current CMC student or group of current CMC students for web-based business planning or accomplishment.  Programs can support non-profit or for-profit proposals, but must be fundamentally web-based initiatives.

2.  Oversight.  The Kravis Leadership Institute (KLI) and the CMC Chief Investment Officer (CIO) are responsible for the management and oversight of this award competition.

3.  Deadlines and Schedule.  Award applications must be submitted to the Kravis Leadership Institute, Seaman 104, no later than Monday, 7 April, 2008.  Finalists may be required to present their proposals to the panel of judges at the request of the panel.  Final selection will occur approximately mid-April 2008.  Winners, not necessarily in person, may be required to present their executed plan at the following year’s competition.

 4.  Judging.     The applications will be compiled and initially reviewed for compliance and completeness by the Director, KLI and CMC CIO.  Approved applications will then be submitted to a panel of judges that includes CMC students, faculty and alumni.  The findings of the judges will be final.

 5.  Award.  The Web Development Fund allows for the distribution of  $5000.  At least one-half of the designated award money will be presented upon selection of the winner in April 2008.  If appropriate, up to one-half of the award money will be held and awarded upon presentation of an executed plan at the following year’s competition as noted above.  Winners will also be recognized on a plaque produced and displayed by the Office of the Dean of Students.  For further information concerning the source of this award please refer to the CMC.com settlement agreement.

 6.  Other contests.  This contest is separate and distinct from the Henry R. Kravis Award for Entrepreneurship, the Robert A. Day Venture Capital Award and the CMCStudent.com Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award, though the latter will be judged simultaneously by the same panel of judges.
