Step Up to Leadership:

Attention Principals, Counselors, and Activity Directors:
Thank you for your past support, interest, and participation in the Step Up to Leadership to Leadership program here at Claremont McKenna College. We regret to inform you that Kravis Leadership Institute no longer plans to offer its Step Up to Leadership program each summer. There will be no program in June 2011 or the following summers at the College.
We value your input and support. If you are interested in providing feedback on the program, or have any questions or suggestions, please contact Jessica Briggs at jbriggs@cmc.edu.

Program Sessions
Daily program sessions cover such topics as communication skills, project planning, cultural diversity training, and conflict resolution. Activities include role-playing, team-building, and ice-breaking games.
|

|
Community Service
Divided into teams, students plan, manage, and complete a community service project during their week-long stay at Claremont McKenna College. |

|
|
Outdoor Leadership
Leaving behind the classroom, students travel to the nearby Claremont Wildness Park for an afternoon of team-building and trust exercises led by program directors. There students attempt to "Cross the Amazon" and solve the secret of the "Blind Square."

Suite Meetings
As part of the individual focus of the program, participants meet each night with their fellow suite mates and with their suite counselor. These are the source of some of the most rewarding moments of the program, as participants have an opportunity to reflect on the day's activities, share their feelings and thoughts, and just talk with students from around the country about important issues.
