Joseph H. Davis

Joseph H. Davis, Ph.D., a Vanguard principal, is the firm’s chief economist and head of the Economic Strategy Group.  Mr. Davis is also a member of the senior portfolio strategy and management team for Vanguard’s Fixed Income Group, which oversees close to $500 billion in assets under management. In addition, Mr. Davis serves on Vanguard’s Investment Committee that oversees the asset allocation of various single-fund solutions.  Mr. Davis is frequently quoted in the financial press and has published numerous studies on a variety of investment and economic issues in leading academic journals, including the Quarterly Journal of Economics.  In 2004 Mr. Davis was selected as a Faculty Research Fellow of the prestigious National Bureau of Economic Research.  Mr. Davis earned his Ph.D. in macroeconomics and finance at Duke University.
