Text: Lang, Calculus of Several Variables  3rd Edition.

Our objective is to reach chapter 12 in the text. We will cover chapters 5 and 6 very lightly.

There will be a regular problem/review session on Thursday evenings in Bauer 25 at 7:30pm starting Thursday Sept. 10.

 

Grading:     

                    Homework   (weekly)

                    2 or 3 midterms

                    Final exam 

 

The three components are each worth roughly a third of your grade.

I will give you at least one week's notice before a midterm. They will be roughly equally spaced through the semester but the first will be in the fourth week of class.

The possible 3rd midterm is in case of some disaster occurring on the first two.

 

                  

Other important items:

  1. Please arrive to class on time.
  2. Please turn off cell phones and beepers in class.

 

 

Tips on performing well in this class:

 

1.      Work several problems EVERY day until the final exam.

2.      Find someone in the class to study with.

3.      Ask the instructor if you can’t figure something out.

4.       Take advantage of the office hours.

5.       Get help EARLY. It will be too late by the time an exam gets close.
