The Effect, Present and Future, of China's Modernization on International Trade

Under the leadership of sophomore Charlene Lee, the James Madison Society has planned an ambitious schedule of speakers during the '88-89 college year. Their first guest is Larry David '66. Mr. David is an international businessman who lives and works in Hong Kong. An expert on the subtleties of conducting business in a foreign country, he believes that China's increasing emergence as a world player will significantly impact the international economy. Mr. David focuses on these changes and on the future of China. His address is entitled "The Effect, Present and Future, of China's Modernization on International Trade." A reception for him begins at 5:30; dinner is at 6:00 and the presentation at 7:00. Sign up with the coupon in The Fortnightly.

Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum

The Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum was conceived as a place where students and faculty could gather for intellectual discourse in an intimate and relaxed setting and integrate their academic and social lives. Public programs are scheduled Monday through Thursday during the academic year and are publicized through the bi-weekly newsletter, The Fortnightly.

While events are primarily for students, the Athenaeum hosts lunches, dinners, and receptions for academic classes, student organizations, and official functions of the College.
