Civilian Space Flight Simulation Team To Reunite

Members of the civilian space flight simulation team will hold a reunion at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 1998 at the Weingart Leadership Laboratory on the Claremont McKenna College campus, 375 E. Eighth Street in Claremont.

The reunion is being held to allow researchers and participants to review the research findings from the experiments, which were held in 1996. Simulation participants lived in close quarters over three days so they could be observed and evaluated for human psychological factors involved in space flight.

Simulation participants, who range in age from 30 to 74, were recruited from the local community by responding to ads in the local newspaper. The research was led by Harvey Wichman, professor of psychology and director of the Aerospace Psychology Laboratory at Claremont McKenna College. At least 12 of the original 16 participants are expected to come to the reunion.

Professor Wichman and William Gaubatz of Universal Space Lines are available for interviews and will be on hand for the reunion. Prof. Wichman may be reached by calling (909) 607-7986.
