CMC among top producers of Fulbright Awards

CMC continues to be a top producer of Fulbright recipients, according to a recent Chronicle of Higher Education article. Seven CMC students were chosen for the honor last year, putting the College among the top 20 producers of Fulbrights in the category of “bachelor’s institutions” nationwide.

The seven CMC students chosen in 2013, include:

1.    Isabelle Heilman ’13 – Conducting research in Mexico
2.    Jennifer Good ’13 – Conducting research in Oman
3.    Erica Libby ’12 – Conducting research in United Arab Emirates
4.    Eliot Adams ’13 – Teaching English in Kazakhstan
5.    Catherine Raney ’13 – Teaching English in Brazil
6.    Jeffrey MacDonald ’13 – Awarded the Bi-National Business Award to Mexico City where he will study and enroll in classes at a Mexican university.
7.    Ralph (Scott) Martin ’13 – Teaching English in Brazil

One of the most prestigious and competitive scholarship programs worldwide, the Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to “increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries,” according to the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, the organization that administers the program for the U.S. State Department.

A Fulbright recipient gets the opportunity to partake in an international educational exchange. Over 150 countries participate in this academic exchange with the US. There are a variety of exchange initiatives within the Fulbright program for a U.S. student including study/ research, business, journalism, sciences and public health, teaching assistant and travel grants. Out of a total of 8,000 grants, approximately 1,600 grants are awarded to U.S. students.
