Commencement 2014!

“Find your focus,” “take risks,” “make sure you know who has your back,” “when you have an opportunity, act,” and “make your contribution meaningful by making it your narrative, your soundtrack, your screenplay” – such were some of the key bits of advice imparted to the graduates by commencement speaker Dr. Lael Brainard, former under secretary of the treasury for international affairs and presidential nominee to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, at the College’s 67th Annual Commencement ceremony on May 17. President Hiram Chodosh implored graduates to do small good deeds for others with purporse and to ask the question “How can I help you?” Jack Houghteling ‘14 gave the class presentation. Chair of the Board of Trustees Harry T. McMahon ’75 P’08 P’09 who steps down as chair at the end of June, received an honorary doctor of laws degree for his service to the College. Tamar Kaplan ’14 who tragically died in 2013, was honored throughout the ceremony with blue wrist bands worn by graduates, remembrance during the invocation prayer and a moment of silence at the time when she would have entered the stage to receive her diploma.
