Congressman Xavier Becerra To Deliver Cesar Chavez Commemoration

U.S. Representative Xavier Becerra will speak in commemoration of Cesar Chavez at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27 at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum. The lecture is free and open to the public on a first-come basis.

Congressman Becerra, who serves California's 30th District, including much of Los Angeles, will deliver the First Annual Cesar E. Chavez Commemorative Lecture. He serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

He is a 1980 economics graduate of Stanford University, where he also earned a law degree in 1984. A former Deputy Attorney General in California, Congressman Becerra began his legal career in 1984 representing the mentally ill. Prior to his election to Congress in 1992, he also served one term in the California Legislature.
