Daily Bulletin Covers Pomona-Pitzer/Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Rivalry Game

The big, Wednesday, Jan. 23 basketball game between the Stags and the Sagehens not only drew a capacity crowd, but notice from a local reporter, who called the game “round one in the best basketball rivalry in the Inland Valley.”

“A crowd of 100 or so waited for the doors to open 45 minutes before the game,” wrote Inland Valley Daily Bulletin sports reporter Michelle Gardner. “The doors opened at 7 p.m., 30 minutes before tipoff, and it was standing-room only in minutes,” reaching an audience count of about 1,256.

The evening victory would go to the Stags, who won the game 65-58.
