Designer John Whitledge '02 in Rolling Stone

John Whitledge '02, who launched clothing line Trovata from his CMC dorm room, currently appears in Rolling Stone, featuring snippets of the company's spring 2005 Manor-Born, Island Bound surfer-prep line for men and women. Formed in 2002 with buddies Josia Lamberto-Egan (POM '00), Sam Shipley, and Jeff Halmos, this marks the first women's collection for the Newport Beach-based Trovata (www.trovata.com), which continues to build its reputation on sun-bleached cotton Tees, polos and oxford shirts, and weathered denim.

Whitledge, an economics major and a varsity swimmer, began toying with the idea of a clothing line back in high school, designing iron-on transfers for T-shirts and distributing the shirts to friends.

On the heels of its new women's collection, Rolling Stone reports that the Trovata quartet "has already won accolades for its first New York Fashion Week appearance."
