A groundbreaking ceremony will be held from 4 to 4:30 p.m. today, Friday, May 16, at the site of the future home of the Biszantz Family Tennis Center at Sixth Street and Brooks Avenue, with a welcome and remarks from President Pamela B. The new Biszantz Family Tennis Center is scheduled for construction this spring, with completion targeted for fall 2008. The facility will offer locker rooms, offices, an adjacent parking lot, a "championship court" with a larger seating area than the current tennis court, and restrooms.
In addition to remarks by President Gann, CMS Hall of Fame inductee and former men's tennis coach Hank Krieger and CMS women's tennis coach Maxanne Retzlaff will recognize those athletes in attendance and speak briefly about the overall impact of tennis.
The Biszantz Family Tennis Center will be ready in time for the 2008-09 season of Stags and Athenas athletes. Although unable to attend, Friday's event will not be overlooked by CMS Men's Tennis Coach Paul Settles and members of the CMS men's tennis team who currently are in Lewiston, Maine, after advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships.
