Heather Antecol, assistant professor of economics, joins CMC from Illinois State University. Following undergraduate and master's studies at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, she earned a doctorate in economics from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. While at McMaster, Antecol was a research fellow at the Canadian International Labour Network(CILN). She has also served as a visiting assistant professor of economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and as a visiting research fellow at the Australian National University in Canberra.
Her extensive research focuses on labor economicsspecifically as it relates to gender/ethnic differences in labor market outcomes. Antecol has published articles in the Journal of Labor Economics, the Journal of Human Resources, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, and Labour Economics. Additionally, she has spoken before leading organizations including the American Economic Association, the Canadian Economic Association, the Society of Labor Economics, the Harvard University Weatherhead Center of International Affairs Conference on Host Societies and the Reception of Immigrants, and the CILN Conferences on Labor Market Institutions and Labor Market Outcomes.
Antecol also teaches labor economics and statistics.
