If swimming is on your mind, there’s good news. Summer hours and fees for use of the Scripps and Harvey Mudd college pools have been announced.

The Harvey Mudd pool, located on Twelfth Street, opens to the public and to the community on Saturday, June 15, with classes beginning Monday, June 17. (Information about classes is available at the pool site.) The Scripps pool opens on Monday, June 17, but will be used only for lap swimming and swim classes. Experienced swimmers may use the Scripps pool any time during operating hours, but families with young children are advised to use only the Harvey Mudd pool because of its family-friendly design, swim coordinators say.

Discounts on daily swim fees and memberships are given to faculty and staff of The Claremont Colleges. For example, the daily swim fee for an adult is $3 without the discount, and $1 with it. Likewise, a summer swim membership is priced at $65 per adult, but faculty and staff pay the discounted rate of $50. (Registration forms, and further information, including family, student, and senior rates, is available at pool areas. Bring ID if swimming daily.)

Checks payable to Scripps College may be mailed to 1030 N. Columbia Ave., Claremont, CA 91711 (attention Swim Program/Scripps College), or sent via campus mail, attention to swim director Joan Slonim. Checks must be accompanied by a registration form. Hours for the Scripps pool are as follows:
10 a.m. to 1 p.m., lap swimming only**
3 to 5 p.m., swim classes onl
5 to 6:30 p.m. lap swimming only

Harvey Mudd pool hours:
1 to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, lap/recreational swimming
6:30 to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, lap/recreational swimming
1 to 6 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, lap/recreational swimming

CMC pool hours:
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
The CMC pool is open to students, staff, and faculty for lap swimming only. The pool is not open to the public.

Closures and special hours:
The HMC pool will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, only, on Saturday, June 23.

Only the HMC pool will be open the week of July 4th, but it will be closed on the Fourth of July holiday.

The HMC pool will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. from Aug. 19 to Aug. 25

Appropriate swimwear must be worn when using the pools, regardless of age. Cut-offs are prohibited.
