Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies
Keck will sponsor a conference, Dealing with Nuclear Issues, on April 12, on campus, featuring invited attendees from Claremont McKenna College, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the Naval War College, the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Sogang University, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Presentations will focus on global nuclear policy, including discussions of China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, and North Korea.

Ilan Wurman '10 will represent CMC at the Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference (NAFAC) April 9-13. NAFAC is the largest undergraduate foreign affairs conference in the country. Delegates from colleges across the country and around the world come every year to debate and learn about a topic of current importance to the foreign policy community. In addition to roundtable discussions, internationally recognized speakers and panels, delegates have a chance to interact with midshipmen and see some of the highlights of the Naval Academy.

Kravis Leadership Institute
Susan E. Murphy, associate director of KLI, will make a presentation at the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) in Washington, D.C., regarding the Federal Employees Mentoring Program.

KLI held its annual Senior Recognition Lunch for seniors and graduates of the Leadership Studies Sequence on Monday, April 2 at the Athenaeum. Professor Jay Conger addressed the students, after which they received their certificates.

SOURCE, a KLI-sponsored group that aids various nonprofit organizations, is changing hands. Founders and graduating seniors Danny Hayman and Michael Peel are completing their succession planning, and handing over the reigns of their program to Alex Harris. Alex will carry on the direction of SOURCE next year. KLI sends best wishes to Danny and Mike as well as all the SOURCE seniors.

On April 18, KLI will host an open house and ice cream gala for students. This provides an opportunity for students to learn about the Kravis Leadership Institute and about the Leadership Sequence Classes that will be offered in the fall during pre-registration.

Visiting Professor Dr. Becky Reichard will present a paper at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychologists Conference April 27-29.

CMC Professor Nicholas Warner, a KLI advisory board member, has published "Screening leadership through Shakespeare: Paradoxes of leader-follower relations in Henry V on film," in the Leadership Quarterly 18 (2007) 1-15.

Lowe Institute of Political Economy
The Lowe Institute will sponsor a Claremont Economics Seminar at noon on Friday, April 13, in Stauffer 106, at CGU (corner of 10th & Dartmouth). The seminar is co-sponsored by the Claremont Institute for Economic Policy Studies (CGU). Lunch will be provided. K.C. Fung, U.C. Santa Cruz and the U.S. International Trade Commission, will give a presentation on Measuring the Vertical Specialization in Chinese Trade, joint work with Judith M. Dean and Zhi Wang.
