Members of the CMC community were given the opportunity in November to view a sample of the homes built and renovated in the Arbol Verde community, south of CMC between First and Sixth streets and east of Brooks Avenue.
The homes have been added to the College's inventory for its rental program to faculty and staff. The collection includes 11 new single-family rental homes. Residents moved into the first group of eight homes on Harwood Place in August. Another development, on Blanchard Place, completed in September, consisted of three new homes and the renovation of a property at First Street and Claremont Boulevard.
Treasurer Robin Apsinall says all but one of the new homes are occupied, with the majority of residents CMC faculty members.
During the open house, attendees were able to walk through the four Blanchard Place residences, while also eyeing the completed exteriors.
"The drought-tolerant landscaping was especially appreciated," says Brian Worley, director of Facilities & Campus Services. "Overall, the project has been very successful. New residences have been provided for faculty and staff and the neighborhood has benefited from the improvements."
