Hundreds of parents, family members, and friends of CMC students are expected to gather for Parents Weekend 2008 scheduled Saturday, Feb. 16 through Monday, Feb. 18 on campus.
Among the weekend's highlights are discussions by John J. Pitney Jr., the Roy P. Crocker Professor of American Politics, on The 2008 Presidential Campaign; Nicole Hamon, director of Off-Campus Study, on Study Abroad: The Journey, an overview of CMC study abroad policies and procedures; and Andy Busch, professor of government and associate dean of the faculty, discussing Recruiting Top Faculty to CMC: The Pig in the Python, examining CMC's hiring process.
Opportunities to watch men's and women's CMS teams compete in tennis, baseball, track and field, lacrosse, and basketball are scheduled throughout the weekend, as are campus tours. On Saturday, Feb. 16 guest speakers Donna and Philip Berber P'09, founders of A Glimmer of Hope Foundation, will present An Inspirational Journey on Humanitarian and Development Efforts, a discussion at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum about their foundation's work in supporting at-risk and disadvantaged youths in London and Austin, Texas.
Parents Weekend also offers friends and family the chance to sit in on CMC classes on Monday, Feb. 18. (A tentative class list is posted on the parent gateway: www.cmc.edu/parentgateway; only those classes listed on the schedule are available for auditing). In addition to classroom visits, guests may visit open houses that morning conducted by Career Services (9 a.m. to noon, Heggblade, second floor) and International Place (10 a.m. to noon, east side of McKenna Auditorium), without pre-registration.
