Announces Six New
Advisory Board Members

The Kravis Leadership Institute announces the appointment of six new members of the KLI Advisory Board. The board is chaired by Michael Grindon '76, who welcomes the newest alumni members: Marc Bathgate '05, Geoffrey Baum '85, Carol Hartman '86, Dean Jensen '83, Mustafa Mirza '76, and Skip Sanzeri '83.
"We are excited that our new members accepted our invitation to be a part of our plan to expand the impact of KLI's leadership education and research programs," said Sarah Smith Orr, interim executive director of the Institute. "Each brings a unique set of experiences and skills, which, when applied, will help to bring greater levels of achievement to all areas of KLI's work."
The KLI Board counts among its members, leaders in the corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors. The Board is charged with advising the Institute on educational and research programs as well as supporting the mission of KLI.

New Member Profiles:

Marc S. Bathgate '05: Bathgate is vice president of Hamilton Miller, a broker-dealer specializing in institutional placements for hedge funds. He joined Hamilton Miller in January 2008 and subsequently became CFO on an interim basis from October 2008 to May 2009. Prior to Hamilton Miller, Bathgate was an analyst and vice president for Bathgate Capital Partners, focusing on corporate finance for micro cap public companies with an emphasis on technology companies. Geoffrey L. Baum '85: Baum is managing director of the Center on Communication Leadership and Policy at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication. A former C-SPAN executive producer, he has also worked for National Public Radio's Marketplace and ABC News. Baum served as assistant dean of the USC Annenberg School from 2001-2008 and as assistant vice president of Claremont McKenna College from 1994-1999. He serves as an elected trustee on the board of Pasadena City College and as a member of the State Board of Governors of the California community college system. Carol O. Hartman '86: Hartman is a partner with Caldwell Partners International, which she joined from The Hartman Group, a boutique executive search firm she founded 15 years ago. Hartman has twenty years of recruiting and consulting experience for a variety of corporate and executive search clients. Her practice focuses on community and regional banking, asset management, private banking and wealth, compliance, as well as retirement income. Hartman has also been retained to help clients in other industries recruit senior Financial Officers and Board members. Prior to founding her own business, she worked at Oppenheimer in the Asset/Liability Management Group and also held positions at Kidder, Peabody, Dean Witter Capital Markets and Sutro & Co. Dean S. Jensen '83: Jensen is the managing partner of Jensen Capital Management in Newport Beach, Calif., a venture management firm focusing on managing and analyzing operations, as well as developing capital sources and strategic alliances for its client companies in the automotive, alternative energy, therapeutic textiles, distressed real estate and advanced computer cooling sectors. He also serves as COO/CFO for a partnership developing a Formula One capable motorsports resort near La Quinta, Calif., part of a $100 million development scheduled to open in 2011 and will feature an alternative energy research park. Mustafa Mirza '76: Mirza is a managing director at GE Capital, which is the financial services arm of GE. Previously, he held a variety of international leadership positions in distressed/alternate investments and corporate finance at GE Capital in Asia and Europe. He has also worked with Citibank in Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. Mirza serves on the CMCAA Board, GE's Volunteer Asian Diversity Board, and supports co-ed school education for the poor in Pakistan, his homeland. Samuel J. "Skip" Sanzeri '83: Sanzeri is an entrepreneur and Angel Investor who works with early stage companies. He has helped over 50 different startups via a variety of rolesincluding fundraising (venture, Angel capital), CEO, COO, CMO and CSO roles, as well as Board and Advisory Board positions. Sanzeri founded Open Source Group, one of the first open source strategy organizations, and he also founded and sold a chain of health clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
