Legendary Coach John Wooden to Receive Kravis Leadership Award on Tuesday, February 27th

John Wooden, UCLA Coach Emeritus regarded as the greatest coach in college basketball history, will be honored at CMC tonight, February 27, when he receives the College’s Kravis Institute Leadership Award. He is being honored in his largest dimension as a philosopher, writer, teacher, and consummate mentor coach.

Coach Wooden will be joined by more than 300 students and other guests, and is expected to deliver 30-minute remarks to a capacity crowd at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum. Overflow seating is available in McKenna Auditorium, with doors open at 6:00 p.m. Reservations are not required for McKenna seating.

Coach Wooden guided UCLA to 88 consecutive wins, a college basketball record, en route to a record 10 NCAA championships in 12 years. He is the only man elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach, and was named “Coach of the Century” by Sports Illustrated.
