The Claremont McKenna College Information Technology Advisory Board and the Silicon Valley chapter of the CMCAA have teamed for the Fifth Annual ITAB Silicon Valley Student Networking Trip reception on Thursday, Jan. 14, featuring guest speaker Michael "Fuj" Fujinaka '07.
Fujinaka is the CMC grad/med student/technology entrepreneur who authored the No. 2 top-selling iPhone medical application, iMurmur. He will be speaking on Thursday on "The Brave New World of 21st Century Liberal Arts." The event begins at 6 p.m. at The Rosewood Sand Hill Resort in Menlo Park.
iMurmur has been on the market since June 2009 through an exclusive distribution deal with Apple's iTunes Store. To date, users from more than 35 countries have purchased the application, and it currently rates as a top-10 best-selling application in the medical category. The app so impressed Thinklabs Medical LLC, a company specializing in digital and electronic stethoscopes, that the company recently bought the rights to it.
