Michael Cunningham, Author Of The Hours, To Speak At CMC Feb. 3

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Cunningham will speak at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Feb 3. The lecture is free and open to the public, and seating is available on a first-come basis. Look for dinner reservation information in upcoming issues of The Fortnightly.
The Hours won the PEN/Faulkner Award in addition to the 1999 Pulitzer Prize. The Paramount Pictures film based on The Hours has already been named Best Picture by the National Board of Review. Cunningham's previous books, Flesh and Blood (1995) and A Home at the End of the World (1990), also met wide acclaim. His work has appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, Redbook, Esquire, The Paris Review, The New Yorker, Vogue, and Metropolitan Home.
Cunningham received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in 1988 and a Michener Fellowship from the University of Iowa in 1982. He received a bachelor's degree in English literature from Stanford University and a master's of fine arts degree from the University of Iowa.
