Professor Stephen Davis to
Present at Philosophy of
Religion Conference in Tehran

Stephen T. Davis, the Russell K. Pitzer Professor of Philosophy, is among a select number of American scholars who have been invited to speak at a conference this spring hosted by the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies at the University of Imam Sadeq in Tehran, Iran, and the department of philosophy at the University of Qum.
Davis says he is honored to join seven other Americans to discuss the conference topic with an equal number of Iranian philosophers. The April 20-25 conference, which focuses on the epistemology of religion, is no trivial event Davis says. "This is the first such conference that I know of since the Iranian revolution.
"The Society of Christian Philosophers has been negotiating for about two years with Iranian scholars to hold a philosophy of religion conference involving Muslim and Christian philosophers," he adds.
Davis will be presenting his paper, "Faith, Evidence, and Evidentialism."
He says he looks forward to the trip to the Middle East because he has yet to visit Iran. He also is anticipating the opportunity to reconnect with a former philosophy graduate student from Iran who had to return home due to financial reasons. Kelsey Brown '13
