Alissa Stedman, is Director of Media Relations in the Office of Public Affairs and Communications at Claremont McKenna College.
Stedman first joined CMC as Assistant Publications Editor. Prior to working in higher education, she was a journalist and freelance entertainment writer for more than a decade. At the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, she served as a film critic, and profiled celebrities and filmmakers for the newspaper’s weekend magazine, 72Hours. Her time there also included roles as a features editor and writer, and as city reporter. As a freelance entertainment writer, she was a contributor to Estylo magazine, and reviewed movies and interviewed filmmakers for Netflix and E! Prior to joining the Daily Bulletin, she was a city reporter for Champion Publications of Chino, Inc.
She is the recipient of a first-place regional award from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) for a two-part story about the murder of a young Upland woman.
She received her bachelor’s degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where she majored in communications.
