Recess-in-Residence: Helpful Information for Thanksgiving Break

What's available to students remaining on campus during Thanksgiving break? The following information, issued by the Dean of Students office, may help in deciding how to bide your timeincluding what to eat and where to stayover the brief recess:

Housing

Residence halls and student apartments do not close during the break. Students are welcome to remain on campus.

Food

At Dining Halls:

Collins Dining Hall will close after dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 24th.

Malott Dining Hall at Scripps College will offer brunch from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25. There is NO dinner service on this day.

For the remainder of fall break, Malott will be open, daily, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for brunch, and from 5 to 6 p.m. for dinner.

Collins will be open for dinner and late-night snack during normal hours on Sunday, Nov. 28th.

At The Hub:

Wednesday, Nov. 24th: open, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 28: closed
Monday, Nov. 29: regular hours resume, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Resident Assistants

Resident assistants will be on-call throughout the break. Should you need to contact a resident assistant during that time, the following five R.A.s can be contacted directly, or paged, by calling Campus Safety at ext. 72000:

North Quad: Caleb Nerstad, Green, ext 75278.

Mid Quad: Milli Kanani, Berger, ext 75316.

South Quad: Erin Evans, Marks, ext 74055.

Apartments: Keara Duggan, ext 77208.

Apartments: Mike Rustemeyer, ext. 74700.

Athletics

Athletics events will continue through the break. Consider heading to Ducey Gym to support men's and women's basketball teams during the David Wells Classic. For that and other game information, check the CMS Web site at: http://cms.claremont.edu/.

Activities/Theme Parks

Discount tickets for either Disneyland or California Adventure are available for purchase in the Dean of Students Office/Heggblade. Interested students should inquire with Maria, before the end of the business day on Wednesday, Nov. 24. Tickets, each $40, have no blackout days, and expire Dec. 17th. (To upgrade to a one-day, TWO-park ticket, one can pay $20 at the ticket office.)

International Place of The Claremont Colleges is organizing a trip to the Grand Canyon. Interested students should contact I-Place director Charlene Martin, ext. 18344.

Other Campus Services

Campus Safety will remain open throughout the holiday recess. Urgent matters should be directed to the office's attention, at ext. 72000; or contact a resident assistant as previously outlined.
