Regarding Southern California Fires

The College is curtailing all outdoor athletic and physical education activity.

All SCIAC contests scheduled for today have been postponed due to air quality issues from the fires; rescheduling for soccer and water polo is underway.

Campus update as of 10/23/07

Although the Claremont area is not directly threatened by any of the fires at this time, we are monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of the Claremont McKenna College community. At the moment we have not changed our regular academic schedules. CMS Athletics Director Mike Sutton and his staff are also assessing conditions for outdoor athletic and recreational activity, and any changes to existing schedules will be posted on the CMS web page and the CMC web site.

Dean Huang and the Dean of Students Staff are ready to assist any students who may be worried about friends and family in the evacuated areas. Those students who may need additional time with their families are asked to contact the Dean office. A few faculty and staff may also be directly impacted or assisting family members at this time. In each case, please work with your supervisors or Human Resources regarding your schedule and needs.
