Renowned Biology Philosopher Dr. David Hull to Discuss "Deconstructing Darwin" Thursday, February 8

David Hull, author and professor who is recognized as a founder of contemporary biology philosophy, will speak on "Deconstructing Darwin" at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, February 8 at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum of Claremont McKenna College. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Hull, the Dressler Professor of Philosophy at Northwestern University and one of the leading philosophers of our time on evolutionary theory, will be in residence at CMC until February 17 as a William F. Podlich Distinguished Fellow. As part of this year's Podlich program focusing on the implications of Darwin and evolution, Hull will scrutinize Darwin's theory in relation to the philosophy of cultural evolution.

Hull has served as president of the Philosophy of Science Association and the Society of Systematic Zoology and is the author of numerous books including Science and Selection, Science as a Process, Darwin and His Critics, and The Philosophy of Biology.
