Senior Minister Of Singapore To Be Keynote Speaker

The Honorable Lee Kuan Yew, the Senior Minister of Singapore, will be among several diplomats, government leaders, and journalists who will convene in Claremont and Los Angeles for a major conference to explore "The Media in East Asia: Press and Politics in Economic Crisis" from Wednesday, October 28 through Friday October 30, 1998.

* Cheong Yip Seng, editor, Straits Times
* Jeffrey Bartholet, Newsweek
* Yuezhi Zhao, author of Media, Markets & Democracy in China

The conference is sponsored by Claremont McKenna College, Pomona College, The Pacific Basin Institute, UCLA's Asia Pacific Media Network, and The Japan Times.
