POWER SHUTDOWN UPDATE
Effective Date: Friday, February 16
Power shutdowns for the final phase of permanent generator installation have been scheduled for Friday, February 16.
The first shutdown will take place from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. this Friday in the following buildings:
- 890 Columbia
- Adams Hall (will remain powered through portable generator)
- Aquatic Center
- Auen Hall
- Bauer North and South
- Benson Hall
- Children’s School
- Ducey Gym
- Emett Student Center
- Fawcett Hall
- Heggblade Center
- Keck Science Center
- Marks Hall
- McKenna Auditorium
- Pitzer Hall
- Roberts North and South
- Seaman Hall West
- Stark Hall
- Student Apartments (will remain powered through portable
generator)
Two brief interruptions of 5-10 minutes each will also take place this Friday, roughly between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., to allow an emergency generator test. These two short shutdowns will occur in the following buildings:
- Appleby Hall
- The Athenaeum
- Beckett Hall
- Berger Hall
- Boswell Hall
- Collins Dining Hall
- Green Hall
- Phillips Hall
- Seaman Hall East
- Story House
- Wohlford Hall
In the meantime, we should all continue to be prepared. While our new generators should see us through most of a rolling blackout, there may be short gaps as the backup generators are activated. Please use common sense practices: save computer documents, know the location of flashlights and other supplies and, especially this Friday morning, remember to use your battery alarm clock. See your R.A. if you need additional batteries or flashlights.
