Claremont McKenna College is closely monitoring several wildfires burning in the areas of San Bernardino and Los Angeles.

Due to smoke in the area, The South Coast Air Quality Management District recommends the following precautions:
* Stay indoors. If possible, close all windows and doors and use the air conditioning system.
* Reduce outdoor activity. Reducing your physical activity in outdoor areas lowers the amount of polluted air your body intakes. Avoid prolonged exposure and strenuous physical activity outdoors.
* Be alert. Pay close attention to updates and advisories. The particulate matter that you can not see can be as hazardous as the smoke you can see.
Pollution from the wildfires may cause the following problems. If you experience one or more of these symptoms, immediately go indoors.
* Irritated and red eyes
* Irritated airway
* Cough
* Scratchy throat
* Headache
* Runny nose
