General Education Requirements Checklist

I. SCIENCE & MATHEMATICS (2 courses total)
____   Science: One lab science course (in Claremont only)
____   Math/CS: Any CMC Math or CSCI course.

II. FOREIGN LANGUAGE, LITERARY ANALYSIS, and HUMANITIES SEMINAR (Minimum of 3 courses)
____ 1.   Language: Third college semester of a foreign language or equivalent
____ 2.   FWS 10: Freshman Writing Seminar
____ 3.   FHS 10: Freshman Humanities Seminar

III. HUMANITIES (Minimum of 2 courses)
Courses selected from two of the four fields listed below. This requirement must be met with courses outside the student's major field(s). See CMC Catalog for exceptions.
____ 1.   Foreign Literature (4th College Semester of a European language; 5th Semester of Korean or Arabic; or 6th Semester of Chinese or Japanese)
____ 2.   Literature (any CMC Literature course numbered 50 or above)
____ 3.   Philosophy (any CMC Philosophy course numbered under 60)
____ 4.   Religious Studies (any Religious Studies course numbered under 180)

IV. SOCIAL SCIENCES (Minimum of 3 courses)
Courses selected from three of the four fields listed below. This requirement must be met with courses outside the student's major field(s). See CMC Catalog for exceptions.
____ 1.   Economics 50, Principles of Economic Analysis
____ 2.   Government 20, Introduction to American Politics
____ 3.   History (any CMC History course numbered under 170)
____ 4.   Psychology (any CMC Psychology course numbered under 100)

V. PHYSICAL EDUCATION (3 semesters of activity courses or 2 seasons of a sport)

VI. SENIOR THESIS
____ Senior Thesis (X 190 or Senior Thesis in Science)
VII. OTHER
Students with off-campus or multidisciplinary majors, except Management-Engineering and Science and Management majors, must complete at least six general education requirements in Humanities and Social Sciences (not including FHS or FWS)
