Study Abroad
Studying abroad allows you to complement and expand your education outside of CMC. It can augment and deepen your academic experience through studying foreign languages, encountering other cultures, gaining new perspectives on America, the world, and yourself, and observing daily life in other countries.
CMC does not administer its own study abroad programs. Instead, the Off-Campus Study Committee, a CMC faculty-led committee, has systematically reviewed and approved many programs worldwide based upon CMC student majors and interests, academic credentials, reputation of the host program, and exemplary student safety procedures and protocols. We consistently re-evaluate these programs based on feedback from student participants.
Slightly over half of all CMC students have studied abroad by the time they graduate, and students have found that the international experience that they have gained through study abroad enhances their academic, professional, and personal goals.
As a spring 2010 study abroad returnee wrote,
“Studying abroad was the most amazing experience I have ever had in my life thus far. It was the best decision that I could have made. I met so many amazing people, some of whom I know will be lifelong friends of mine. I feel as if I learned more in my 5 months abroad than I have in my entire life. Being gone from my family and friends- my comfort zone- forced me to put myself out there and become an independent person. I know that I can handle just about anything now and I am comfortable in situations that I wasn't before. Studying abroad opened my eyes to the rest of the world and it also showed me how very blessed and thankful I am for the life that I live and the opportunities that I have been given.”
We look forward to discussing our many study abroad opportunities with you.
