Study Abroad: The ISIC Card

The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is an identification card certifying that you are a full-time student at an institution of higher learning and is recognized in most areas of the world as proof of student status. The card gains you free or reduced admission to museums, theaters, concerts as well as discounts on travel (air, train, bus, ferries). Though experience indicates that the ISIC is most useful for reduced rates in Europe, the travel discounts are generally available in many countries. Benefits of the ISIC card include:

International Insurance Benefits (Free with ISIC card):

  • $300,000 Emergency Evacuation
  • $25,000 Repatriation of Remains
  • $25,000 Accidental Medical Expense (Includes $500 Emergency Dental Coverage)
  • $5,000 Accidental Death & Dismemberment - Air
  • $1,000 Accidental Death & Dismemberment - All Other

  • $165 per day sickness & Hospital benefit
  • $100 Baggage Delay Reimbursement

Many programs include the card with their program cost including Arcadia, Pitzer, Pomona, some SIT, Sweet Briar College and Syracuse. If you are obtaining your ISIC through Off-Campus Study, we will bill your student account the $22.00 fee.
