Meet the Silicon Valley Program Faculty
Darren FilsonECON 165 CM: Industrial Organization (Fall 2012, Spring 2013)
Professor Filson is an associate professor of economics at Claremont McKenna College. In addition to “Industrial Organization,” he has taught courses in the application of behavioral game theory, the economics of innovation, managerial economics, mathematical economics, sociological economics, and statistics, among many graduate-level courses in economics, game theory, and the application of these disciplines to life sciences.
Since his appointment to the Robert A. Day School faculty, Professor Filson has made a powerful impact on the academic life of both undergraduate and graduate students. An exemplary scholar and Industrial Organization teacher, his entrepreneurial flair will complement the Silicon Valley Program well.
Professor Filson earned his B.A. with double honors in economics and political studies from the University of Saskatchewan, and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Rochester. A member of the CMC faculty since 2007, he also serves as the director of graduate programs for the Robert A. Day School of Economics and Finance.
Constance RossumECON 197S CM: Special Topics in Economics--Innovation and Marketing (Fall 2012, Spring 2013)
Professor Rossum is a professor of marketing and management at the University of La Verne’s College of Business and Public Management. She has taught at CMC as a visiting professor since 2006 in topics such as management in organizations, leadership in organizations, and marketing across all sectors of the modern economy. In addition to her teaching and research, Professor Rossum leads a consulting firm specializing in marketing-management and research for corporations and not-for-profit organizations nationwide.
Professor Rossum earned her A.B. in Radio TV (Rhetoric & Public Address) from Indiana University, and both her M.A in management and Ph.D. in education and management from the Claremont Graduate University.

S. Brock BlombergECON 197S CM: Special Topics in Economics--Innovation and Marketing (Fall 2012, Spring 2013)
Professor Blomberg is the Robin and Peter Barker Professor at Claremont McKenna College with appointments in the economics department and the politics, philosophy, and economics program. He has taught courses in macroeconomics, microeconomics, international economics, econometrics, statistics and political economy. With research interests grounded in macroeconomics, international economics, political economy and are focused on terrorism, he has written extensively on the economics of terrorism in journals, books, and newspapers. Over the past 14 years, he has published over 30 articles and book chapters in such top economics journals as the American Economic Review, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of International Economics, Journal of Public Economics and the Review of Economics and Statistics.
Dr. Blomberg has held appointments on the President's Council of Economic Advisors, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, Harvard University and Wellesley College. He also served in the United States Military for eight years and been the United States representative to the Economic Committee for Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
He is the Dean of the Robert A. Day School of Economics & Finance at Claremont McKenna College.
