A Memory of Pearl Harbor
John Devereux ’57, was born and raised on Oahu and still vividly remembers standing on the front porch of his home in Manoa Valley at 5 years old, when he saw clouds of black smoke rising over Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Working together for the Common Good
Josh Walter ‘01 believes in and practices a positive leadership style. His military and civilian experiences have taught him that positive leadership can bring people together, motivate them to work for the common good, accomplish difficult tasks, and achieve success. He has practiced and honed this skill throughout his CMC, military, and civilian experiences, and has been the beneficiary of the success that comes from rallying a high-performing team. His story is one that merits close examination to see how organization, motivation, socialization, and a personable leadership style can bring a team together to achieve a common goal.

John Baker ‘58 - Military Intelligence, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War
The Cuban Missile Crisis – John Baker ’58 In October 1962, the Cuban Missile Crisis suddenly erupted. John Baker’s Military Intelligence detachment was issued secret orders to deploy to Florida and be prepared to take part in the invasion. John found himself as the key person having to provide support services for a secretly deployed group of 15 men with a mission of providing intelligence support to the Cuban invasion force.
