Claremont McKenna College’s Robert Day Sciences Center (RDSC) has been recognized as one of the “World’s Most Beautiful” on a university campus by Prix Versailles, which highlighted the building’s role in “beautifying and improving the living environment.”
Announced each year at UNESCO, the internationally renowned Prix Versailles is a series of architectural competitions that shine a light on the finest contemporary projects worldwide.
The 2026 award program honored the RDSC—and “the spectacular architecture from the imagination of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG)”—as a “hub for computer science, data science and life sciences,” which creates “within a single structure, an environment designed to foster collaboration across traditionally separated fields.”
Further, Prix Versailles recognized the RDSC as a “major landmark on campus and the symbol of an integrated approach to the sciences,” noting that “the Robert Day Sciences Center is an educational tool in and of itself for its community of students.”
In receiving the honor, the RDSC is in prestigious company, joining Johns Hopkins University (another BIG project), Harvard University, and Cambridge University among this year’s eight laureates.
